3/6/16: FVFA HS Varsity Foil Team is #1 in the State of CT (based on individual results at the 2016 CT HS State Championships):  Elaina R. (Freshman, Granby), Dashiell B. (Junior, W. Hartford), Noah E. (Sophomore, Hartford), and Danila B. (Sophomore, Somers)! 


Owner and Head Coach Mal-sun also took the #1 National Ranking in the 40-49 Women's Foil category after taking Bronze in Baltimore and Gold in Richmond this past season (check out "About FVFA" section for Coach Mal-sun's additional accomplishments and coaching credentials)!

Directions to FVFA:
Get to I-91.  Take exit #37 (Rt. 305).  Go West (towards Sunoco gas station) on Rt. 305 for about 2.2 miles.  At intersection with Rt. 187 (Blue Hills Ave.) take a right.  Get in left hand lane.  Take left on West Dudley Town Road.  FVFA is about 1/4 mile on the right.

And since the article was published, FVFA Alum Cody R. (now a Senior) received a 4-year fencing scholarship to join NCAA's Division 1 Epee Fencing team at Sacred Heart U. in Fairfield, CT (http://www.sacredheartpioneers.com/sports/m-fenc/2014-15/bios/richard_cody_a72e) and FVFA Alum Hannah B. of West Hartford is fencing on NYU's NCAA Fencing Team!  Another great reason to have your child try fencing... if they end up loving it, you never know what good things might come!

~ 90-Min Intro-to-Fencing Class--Great way to try out first-hand what fencing is all about!!  Small Group Class setting limited to 6-8 students per class.  One-time all inclusive price of $50 includes class fee, equipment rental fee and one-day club membership fee.  Class is 1 hr 30 mins long.  Please get to the class 15 minutes early for equipment fitting.  Classes filled on a first-come first-serve basis.  Class available, typically, on the FIRST Thursday of each month, 5 to 6:30pm, by reservation only via e-mail FVFA@comcast.net.  Intro-to-Fencing Class attendees get 10% off the regular beginner session rates or 5% off any Summer Clinic (see below for details).  Also enjoy higher priority when signing up for the beginner session or summer clinics.  

~ Upcoming Beginner Session (8-week courses for children 10+ and adults with no fencing experience):  New Summer Beginner Session starting on Tues. July 5th!  E-mail me at FVFA@comcast.net for details and forms and to be added to FVFA's contact list to be notified when enrollment opens for future beginner sessions for children 10+ and adults (Tuesday or Saturday) and Afternoon Summer Clinics for children 8-15.  At FVFA we have one of the best fencing programs in the State of Connecticut, so let me assure you it's worth the wait for a new session--fencing should be fun and exciting, not boring and tedious!  Start your fencing journey TODAY at FVFA!

~ The Fall Beginner Youth Fencing Program for boys and girls ages 7-8-9 is starting in early October!  Class is on Wednesdays from 5 to 6pm.  Please e-mail me at FVFA@comcast.net today so I can send you details!  Summer Clinics available for ages 8+ as well.

~ ADULT (14+) BEGINNER FENCING:  Course currently in progress!  E-mail FVFA@comcast.net for details and registration. This course is extremely rare as there is usually not much demand for it, but if you are interested, e-mail me ASAP! 

~ Also, don't forget to ask about FVFA's COMPETITIVE TRAVEL TEAMS FOR HIGH SCHOOL and MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS (upon completion of the appropriate beginner courses)!

~ 2015-16 FVFA Tournament Schedule: Now available on www.Askfred.net!  Please pre-register on Askfred if you plan on participating at any FVFA Tournament. 

~ Wish you could get a college scholarship or fence on a NCAA collegiate team? If you're a middle school or high school student and you're interested, e-mail me NOW--start training now, before it's too late!, and YOU could qualify for a college fencing scholarship!

~ If you are already a competitive fencer (from any fencing club/program in the area), take the FVFA Private Lesson Challenge!!  Basically you sign up to take 3 months of private lessons (1 per week) with Coach Mal-sun and if your fencing does not feel like it has improved, you get ALL your money back!!  You can start immediately, so contact Mal-sun at FVFA@comcast.net ASAP.  FVFA Membership and representation NOT required for the first 3 months.
